Raised in the midwest, schooled in the south, settled in the Pacific Northwest.

Rural and wild places are deep within me; my people are suburban; the city is my home and my work.

I am a community-maker.  My tools are public space, public process and public institutions.

My teachers are humanists:  Wendell Berry, Gary Snyder, EF Shumacher, Christopher Alexander, Charlotte Joko Beck, Alan Watts and Lao Tzu.

My family is first, second and last.
